My husband Chris and I discovered a shared passion for wine when we were in our mid-thirties. We're fortunate to live in the Santa Clara Valley, one of California’s oldest wine-growing regions. As we began visiting many of the different tasting rooms near our home, we quickly fell in love with the wineries and the people we've met along the way (almost as much as the wine itself).
After exploring all the local wineries as well as those in San Benito and Santa Cruz counties, we began to branch out and explore other wine country destinations, such as Paso Robles, Napa Valley, Carmel Valley, Livermore and San Luis Obispo—even the Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico! We've also enjoyed hosting wine tasting parties with friends, where we've discovered even more new wines from faraway places.
Along the way, I've saved the corks from many of the different wines and wineries we've enjoyed. I love how each one is unique—and how each one brings back special memories.
Chris' original purse given to me as a gift
In 2009, Chris surprised me with an amazing gift: a beautiful vintage purse that he adorned with wine corks from wineries we had visited. I loved it and couldn’t wait to show it off! I brought the purse along on a wine tasting trip to the Napa Valley. Not surprisingly, it was a big hit and an instant conversation piece.
Everyone who saw the purse wanted to know where I had bought it—and how they could get one for themselves. We quickly realized this could be a business opportunity that would combine our love of wine with our own creative energy.
After all these years, we are excited to finally launch the company and share Vino Purse with wine lovers around the world!
